Our Story

David and Damaris

We moved to Studley Roger in 1990. Damaris was a community nurse and I was a physio at the local hospital. By 2010 our kids had left home, and we wanted to use the house and garden in a new way. Jelleylegs opened in April 2011. Initially we focused on cyclists riding The Way of the Roses cycle route and runners coming for guided running holidays. The Covid years and a knee injury meant the running holidays had to end but we still love to have guests staying who want to enjoy the garden and the beautiful surrounding area.

The Deer Park

Hardly a day goes by when we don’t walk in the Studley Royal Deer Park which backs onto our garden.

Fountains Abbey

Across the Park is Fountains Abbey. On Saturdays there is a very scenic Park Run around the Abbey grounds.

The Dales

Nidderdale is only 20 minutes away and Wharfedale 35 minutes. We have walked, run and cycled all over the Dales, so we are happy to share route ideas with our guests.
